On completion of this Child Protection course participants will:

•     Be aware of the broader context for this work
•     Have explored a range of attitudes in relation to this issue
•     Be aware of the definitions of child abuse
•     Be aware of how workers might become aware of/have concerns about abuse.

Content

Participants will also have an understanding of:

• The characteristics which might render an individual suitable/unsuitable for working with children/young people
• Possible responses to dealing with disclosures/concerns/suspicions
• Reporting procedures
• The use of a code of behaviour including the key elements.
